January 29th: Boone

 At the last minute, we decided to drive up to Boone, spend the night and wake up early to go snowboarding and skiing at Appalachian Ski Mountain. This meant dinner out. We picked Lost Province Brewing. We've eaten here on a previous Boone trip and found it again. Pizza was solid. The Poutine was weird. The drink was excellent. 

Afterwards, we headed across the street to Ben & Jerry's for ice cream in 15 degree weather. The next morning we were able to get espresso drinks at our favorite espresso place in town: Talia Espresso. 

A most excellent mini-break. 

When it's 15 degrees, ice cream doesn't melt.
