The Lost Week (Somewhere between Christmas and New Years)

The week between Christmas and New Years is always a funny week. I think usually we eat leftovers and too much cheese while trying to finish off bottles of half drunk wine. Sometimes we manage to go out, which we did and so I'm never sure what I'm going to make.

One dinner, for tonight- which is a Wednesday, will come from Chetna's 30 Minute Indian, a Christmas present from Watts. A book I didn't ask for, but I've been wanting. Well done to the lad for that one. I think I'm going to make the Spinach Kofta with creamy almond-onion curry. Or maybe Tamarind Aubergine Curry. Or maybe Garlicky Mushroom Sabji. I have ingredients to make all of these so what might happen is that I cook them all and then tomorrow we eat leftovers. Or I do the sensible thing and make one or two tonight and something else tomorrow.

Other options for food this week may involve the chicken legs that are in the freezer....the more I think about it I think we'll have two nights of Indian.

Then on Friday, it's New Years Eve, but it's also my mother's birthday which means a lunch of takeout Chinese with the family (cancelled the restaurant reservations because of Covid instead opting for our small bubble of boostered family). I'll bring the cake. Then we'll come home and have to figure out what to make to sustain ourselves until the clock strikes Midnight. I've been thinking about this party wreath with some different ingredients. I've also been thinking of a spinach artichoke dip because everyone loves that. Maybe pigs in a blanket- veggie pigs too-. It will be delicious whatever we make and then we'll figure out what to eat for the rest of the weekend once it turns 2022.
