What We're Eating: 2/8-2/14

The week is starting off busy. I don't like that. AT ALL. Oh well. Sitting and grading will help. Just forge ahead.

Monday: Leftovers.....or Pizza.

Tuesday: Pasta with Salami or Prosciutto. There's a recipe someplace that I will modify...

Wednesday: Lentils and Sweet Potatoes and Spinach

Thursday: Leftover Soups!! We have Minestrone! We have Potato Cheddar Soup! We have Black Bean Chili! I also have a hair appointment at 4pm and I teach all day so it will be a perfect reason to clean out the freezer.

Friday: We've stolen Flora Shedden's idea for Friday Feasts and have decided that tonight will be romantically themed--family style for Valentine's Day.  Midnight Garlic Pasta  and Chocolate Lava Cake for Two x2. Plus we dug out Giada's cookbooks for some of her noshie little snacks like marinated olives and chili almonds. Both of which Nuala and I almost devoured completely before Watts came home from work.

CONFESSION: If left to our own devices, Nuala and I will eat dinner at 4pm everyday. Friday Feasts and Saturday Suppers mean we wait until the men folk in our household are home. It is a challenge, but we are brave. And when we have noshie snacks, we can be braver.

Saturday: We baked all day today. It was gross and cold and icy. Trees were falling down left and right and starting a few doors down from us there was no power for most of the day. We were without internet for most of the day so we busted out Flora Shedden's Aran and made Anja's Apple Tart and her Oat Chocolate Cookies which were different than mine and delicious in their way. We've decided they have different purposes that I need to write about soon. For dinner we busted out an old favorite on a cold day. Spiced Chickpea Stew with Coconut and Turmeric. Then we made Mark Bittman's Naan bread and our world flipped upside down with wonder at why we haven't been making homemade Naan our whole lives.

Sunday: It's Valentine's Day and I'll make something with brats and mushrooms and butternut squash and cabbage and essence of love. Just you wait until I figure it all out.
