Are we even eating? 2/21-2/28
Last week we had a new stove AND a new refrigerator delivered. To be clear: we did not suddenly lose our minds and impulsively buy these. We have needed them for a very very very long time. Our stove was beige and called The Admiral. He had no handle and was down to two working burners. Our fridge was a hand-me-down hastily scooped up when the door to our other fridge just fell off with no hope of being reattached. The fridge was too big for our tiny kitchen, but because it was free we didn't complain. Then we found ourselves home and in our kitchen every single day for a year. After hours of online searching that left us slightly nauseous and after hours of watching Bake-Off we finally settled on the newbies.
Which then left us looking at the rest of our kitchen like......um......how big is that gap in the tiles going to get before we do anything about it. Is it time for those makeshift counters to go to the curb?
So we're putting together a new kitchen which means I put the sourdough starter in the fridge, I burnt a batch of marmalade and I can't really think about what we're going to eat for the coming week.
Monday: I went to Bestway and got little chicken tenders. I made my homemade oven pan fried chicken, smashed potatoes and frozen broccoli.
Tuesday: There are a lot of bean cans on our pantry shelves and sweet potatoes in our potato basket so something with that obviously.
Wednesday: It's going to be hot and sunny for February. Maybe I'll make a carmelized onion tart or maybe we'll bust out the grill for fun. Or maybe it will be some hodgepodge concoction of foods that will taste really good. Like a midweek noshie party.
Thursday: I have been saying I'm going to make walnut olive pasta for ages. Tonight I WILL!
It's the weekend and while we usually cook like mad, I think I'm going to want to work in the kitchen like mad. So we'll leave the next few days blank.
