What We're Eating: 12/28-1/3

It's always a haze of days after Christmas. It's this weird time where there is so much food in the house, but you still need to go grocery shopping so you're not just eating rubbish.

Monday: Nuala's been wanting to make this Carmelized Onion Galette which then led to us making Creamy White Beans with Herb Oil. Plus Sausage because Watts has been asking for it since Christmas Eve.

Tuesday: Calzones. We're finally going to have calzones. I promise.

Wednesday: Pasta e Ceci. Because Italian Pasta and Chickpea Stew is what I always want to eat.

Thursday: It's New Year's Eve so we're planning a noshie eating event of the century. Okay, so this actually transformed into mussels and shrimp because it was just the seafood eating grownups. This shrimp scampi broth was better than the mussels broth, but this mussel recipe was just fine as well. They were both so good that Watts said, "we should freeze what's leftover to eat with bread sometime." To which I replied, "or I could just make these recipes again in the very near future.

Friday: I know people in the south eat black eyed peas and collards on the first day of the new year, but I'm going with Spag Bol because I've been thinking about it for a while and it just seems like a fitting day to make one of my favorite and most comforting meals.

Saturday: I bought some ribs this morning and I think the boys will be happy with that. Side note: they were totally happy. I couldn't make my homemade barbecue sauce because we're out of molasses and so was the store. But I bought a Kansas City style sauce, dumped it on the ribs in the crockpot. We also pour some over some tofu, roasted some potatoes and cooked some green beans and then ate cake. Perfect dinner.

Sunday: After watching a Great British Bake Off, we were inspired to make Yorkshire puddings and because someone put chili in theirs, that's our plan for tonight. This chili recipe. And these Yorkshire puddings.
