What We're Eating 11/23-11/29

Monday: It's a boys night so that means it's meat-centric. I'm making a variation of Pork Chops Puttanessca. I've always loved that sauce and I've actually never made it with pork chops. We'll see how the eaters respond.

Tuesday: Curry potatoes and some chicken. It's a go to in the comfort world of food. It's also a guaranteed success.

Wednesday: Risotto bar. Ever since I saw Michael Chiarello make a risotto bar, I've loved it as a go to easy weeknight dinner for the fancy factor.

Thursday: It's Thanksgiving! But we already did Thanksgiving and I really don't want to do all that food again. Instead it will be a steak and ale pie kind of day. I will probably also make a sweet pie. And, because I will be making a sweet and savory pie I just might pretend I'm on the Great British Bakeoff.

Friday: Pasta with chickpeas and probably a Negroni. This recipe.

Saturday: Winter Vegetable soup. That I probably made earlier in the week.

Sunday: Chili. Of some kind.

Notes:

I'm not going to lie. Things went in a little sideways this week. Not in a bad way. Just in a "I didn't quite make the menu I had planned way" but I stuck as close to plan as possible. On Tuesday, I had some errands to run so the chicken thighs I was planning on cooking became a rotisserie chicken from Harris Teeter. On Wednesday, we had way more time on our hands that I thought we would so we made the Winter Vegetable Soup which was a top notch selection. I made a double batch of it so I could put some in the freezer to bring next week to my friend whose parents just died. On Thursday, Watts and I did indeed have steak pie along with neeps and tatties. Our neighbor had brought us over a bunch of veggies from her niece's farm so we also had some steamed broccoli and sautéed Kale. On Friday we turned to leftovers because to be honest the fridge was quite full--which doesn't always happen. That pushed the pasta with chickpeas and a Negroni to Saturday. And now it's Sunday and I'm deciding between chili and risotto. Considering the pantry and vegetable situation, I  think it will be chili.
